Penetration testing, or “pen test” for short, is a method of evaluating the security of computer systems, networks, and applications by simulating an attack on them. Penetration testing involves a team of skilled security professionals, known as ethical hackers or “white hat” hackers, who use a variety of techniques to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in an organization’s security defenses.
